AI has recently proved to be a game-changer in so many aspects of life that is hard to imagine life without it. When taking a closer look, it is possible to notice that AI assistants have crept into my life without anybody noticing. These virtual helpers with Machine learning and Expert Natural language Processing are no longer a concept many years from now. Well, they are present amongst us and they are turning life into more organized, easy and even less unbearably boring. From time management to solving various questions about things and events AI has brought a new dimension to the way I work, communicate, and live.
How AI Assistants Have Changed My Way of Living
Even simple tasks have changed the way of working because of AI assistants. Some things which in the past required time and energy, such as remembering meetings, keeping track of things to do, and replying to unexciting emails, are not a problem. No wonder I cannot forget another meeting or a call as my AI assistant is always close to me to make sure of everything. It is not only the case of convenience here as well. The time I spent doing small and mundane tasks can now be freed up for something more important because we have automation. Whether I am in the house, at the workplace or on the move my AI assistant is such a great aid to ensure that I do not miss all the important issues around making me more productive and less anxious. Sometimes I shudder when I recall that three to four years ago I had to do most of these things on my own. You have almost taken up an identity of my own and each of them serves to have helped me in a way; in saving time and energy and even increasing my productivity.
Two Popular AI Assistants I Use
The common use of AI assistants that I can easily name is Amazon Alexa and Apple Siri. These are the two assistants that I use most frequently and both have very different characteristics.
- Amazon Alexa – Alexa is probably the most effective, especially when at home. Some of the simple things like switching off the lights, setting the timer or even playing my best songs only require me to speak to Alexa. It’s quite fascinating how I can make the thermostat turn on, check the weather, or order groceries without having to get up from the couch. Now, Alexa is well aware of my tastes and is thus tailored to suggest things I would not know that I needed, for example, reminding me about the need to order chips for a party when I have run out of those. By now Alexa’s ability to work with other services and third-party applications is A must-have.
- Apple Siri – During on-the-go situations, I use Siri most often. Siri is always there whenever I need to do a quick job on my iPhone most probably in sending a message, searching for a location or creating a reminder. Siri’s integration is the best because all my Apple gadgets are interconnective in a perfect manner. If I want to skip to the next track on my iPhone or turn up the heat in my home using HomePod, Siri can help. Also, Siri’s voice command-based interface has eliminated the need to handle the device with my hands while I am driving, or doing other chores around the house. I also like that Apple pays attention to privacy, I remember that every time I use Siri, some questions and answers appear in my Ukrainian language.
Things AI Assistants Do That I Can’t
There are some things that my collections of AI assistants can do much better than I can do myself, no matter how much I think I can take. Here are some things I depend on them for that I can’t arise – at least not to the same extent.
- Handling Large Amounts of Data – When am organizing for something big like travelling or comparing a new gadget, I am sure that all the data necessary will be processed in seconds by my AI assistants. For instance, I can ask for their help if I am searching for several flights because they can find the best deals, determine service availability at the moment and suggest options based on my previous searches. I am unable to spend time scrolling through thousands of links to filter out the results that I need. Oh my AI assistants this makes it easier and faster for me.
- Being available 24/7 – One thing that I can’t do is work every hour of the day. But my AI assistants? They never sleep. Whether it is at three in the morning or three in the afternoon. You know what, I don’t need to look far before someone like Alexa or Siri assists me with a mission. Whether one is willing to set an alarm at midnight to attend to or will be sending an email on the weekend, they are always willing to attend to it without any rest. This is my decision because they can be accessed at any time I need them the most.
- Multi-Tasking without Breaking a Sweat – Well, as much as possible I try to multi-task, but I am not an expert in it. However, my AI assistants do not find it cumbersome to work on several tasks in one go. With them, I can type emails and messages, be reminded of numerous things, search for answers to questions I may have, and even regulate most of my smart household appliances. A few things on my plate leave me struggling to handle them, but AI assistants love multitasking, and that helps me a great deal.
- Multilingual communication – Another fun thing about those AI helpers of mine is that they are capable of both understanding and speaking multiple languages. If I am on a visit or just feel like wanting to know the English meaning of some phrase from any foreign language, I can simply ask Alexa or Siri. They can translate from one language to another in a snap and I don’t necessarily have to speak the language very well to be understood. This I have to admit is an area where I would probably have to spend a lot of time practicing to get comfortable doing it.
- Predicting My Needs – In hindsight my AI assistants understand me well to the extent that they are now able to guess what I require before I can ask for it. For instance, if I have the habit of asking Siri for the morning’s weather before going out, Siri will text me about the same in between. That’s a degree of customized comfort from a machine that one does not experience with individuals and one of how AI enhances my existence.
The Future of AI Assistants
What the future holds for me in terms of using AI assistants is something that I would like to wait and watch. There are loosely developed concepts of what is referred to as ‘advanced emotional intelligence,’ where, for instance, my AI assistant may be able to tell if I am happy or sad and respond in the former case, differently from the latter. I can only picture it giving me even more specific recommendations, solving complex jobs better, and adapting even deeper to all the gadgets I use every day. I am quite sure that with even more advanced AI these assistants will become even more crucial.
Conclusion
AI assistants have turned my life upside down in a way I never thought was possible. They have improved day-to-day activities, provided me with my lost hours and assisted me in being efficient. It’s not just about using them, they’ve even become like tools that are always at my side. By this, while there are challenges to overcome especially concerning privacy, then one can argue AI assistants are here to stay. The future seems to be promising and I eagerly await to know how they will further mould my life.
